Support Equipment

Computers - Computer with Internet access to our library online databases and online catalog are available throughout the library.  Many of these computers are identified as "Research Only" and are there primarily for searching our online databases.  These computers do no, however, have software such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.  Any word processing or specific software needed must be accessed from our private Computer/Study Rooms described below.

Printers - In order to print from library computers, library users must use a Library Printer Card.  Printer Cards are available for purchase at the Circulation Desk.  These cards are $3 each, which entitles the user to 30 copies at 10 cents a piece.  Each area with student computers (Microforms/Periodicals, Reference, upstairs Computer Rooms) has a network printer somewhere in that area.  You will retrieve your computer printouts from that network printer.

Computer/Study Rooms - Private rooms equipped with computers are available for student use on the second floor of the library.  These rooms must be checked out at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library.  Students must leave their student ID and driver's license (which will be returned upon check-in of the room key) with Circulation Staff in order to have access to the room.  Rooms may be checked out for two hours at a time, but students will only be asked to leave at that time if someone else is waiting for access.  Click here to view the software available on the computers.

Laptops - Wireless enabled laptop computers are available for in-library use only.  They have Microsoft Office XP which includes:
Access, Excel, FrontPage, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.  To check out a laptop, present your current student ID and your driver's license at the Circulation Desk and fill out the necessary paperwork.  Laptops may be checked out for two hour time periods and may be renewed at the end of that time for another two hours.

Microform Readers and Printers - Microfilm and microfiche readers and printers are available in the Microforms/Periodicals department on the first floor of the library.  Paper copies can be made from film and fiche at 10 cents per page, either by using a dime operated coin-op or your library printer card.  The staff is available for help in locating materials or using the readers to make copies.

Photocopiers - Copy machines are available on the first and second floor of the library.  Copies are 10 cents per page.  Two of the copiers will give change for up to five dollar bills.  Since neither the library nor the university own the copiers, your library printer card may not be used to pay for copies.

Scanners - There is a scanner available for student use in the Circulation Department area of the library.

Typewriters - Typewriters are available in two of the Computer/Study Rooms for student use.
